Carlos Alcaraz v Karen Khachanov Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two players, both of which came last year and on clay. Alcaraz won them both in straight sets.

Alcaraz Schools Zverev

It took all of an hour and 22 minutes for Alcaraz to push Alexander Zverev out of the tournament in their round four encounter.

Following on from a hard-fought win over Emil Ruusuvuori and a straight-set rout of Grigor Dimitrov, Alcaraz was a definite favourite coming into his fourth round match against Zverev. Not too many, however, would have expected him to blast Zverev in the manner that he did.

Alcaraz lost a mere eight points on his own serve while breaking Zverev a whopping four times in the process. The Spaniard did not face a single break-point either.

And he later admitted that he was amazed by the level he played against Zverev, which should help him carry a lot of confidence into the next round. This was after Zverev had overcome Alcaraz the last time they had played – at the 2022 French Open.

Can Alcaraz now continue his march forward?

Khachanov Eases Past Rublev

Andrey Rublev was 1/2 to overcome Khachanov in an all-Russian clash but it was the world number 12 who found a way to stave off two set-points and win in two.

Khachanov did not drop his serve even once in the encounter and then broke Rublev in the third game of the second set to come through.

With neither player finding a way past the other’s serve in the first set, it needed a tie-breaker to separate the two players. And at 6-4 in the tie-breaker it seemed like Rublev was on the verge of taking the lead.

Khachanov saved them both and then squandered two of his own set-points before winning it 10-8.

In the second set, one break of serve is all that he needed to land the match, following on from his wins over Thiago Monteiro and Roberto Bautista Agut earlier. Alcaraz might be a bridge too far though.

Alcaraz v Khachanov Prediction and Tip

Alcaraz is 1/9 to win this and we can expect it to be a straightforward victory for the Spaniard.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Alcaraz to win in straight sets: 1/2
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Under 21.5 games in the match: 5/6
