Martina Trevisan v Karolina Muchova Head to Head

Muchova leads 2-0, having beaten Trevisan twice in 2023. Their last meeting took place in Indian Wells, where the Czech won 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

Muchova Off to a Good Start

Karolina Muchova did not face a lot of troubles in her opening round bout in the Italian Open 2023. Facing Kamilla Rakhimova, she won the match 6-4, 7-5.

Now ranked World No. 52, Muchova is having an interesting spell in 2023. She is 17-6 and appears to be well on track to deliver a good season.

Her form on clay may be questionable, but her antics in the first few months will tell a different story. The 26-year-old made it to the quarterfinal in Indian Wells, Dubai, and Auckland – beating a few big names like Belinda Bencic and Victoria Azarenka.

Most recently, in Madrid, she was beaten in round two by Irina-Camelia Begu – but not before upsetting the former top-10 player Anett Kontaveit.

Considering Muchova’s form on clay, she has a quarterfinal from Madrid and a runner-up feat in Prague Open to make her case. Overall, however, she has shown to be an exceptional player – evidenced by her two quarterfinal runs in Wimbledon and a semifinal feat at the Australian Open.

Trevisan Seeking Resurgence

Martina Trevisan is hoping to turn around what has been a mediocre season so far over the clay swing. In Madrid, she made it as far as round four before bowing out to Jessica Pegula.

She also reached the quarterfinal in Miami – which helped her stay afloat in the top 20. But that aside, she lost four matches back to back in the Australian Open, WTA Abu Dhabi, Qatar Open, and WTA Dubai.

Her season record is 9-11, but she may very well make up for it in the coming weeks.

Trevisan has 17 ITF finals to her name from the surface – in addition to winning her maiden WTA title in Rabat last year. She followed that with a semifinal showdown in the French Open.

Overall, however, Martina has had her troubles with inconsistencies, and that may likely play a part in this upcoming match too.

Trevisan v Muchova Prediction and Tip

Despite being in her element, Trevisan is likely to lose this one. Muchova is coming off a good season, and she is well-equipped to add to Martina’s form woes. However, we may see a good number of games before the Czech gets her way.

Tips:

  • Low-Risk Tip: Muchova to win: 1/3
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6
