Lorenzo Musetti v Matteo Arnaldi Head to Head
They have never faced off at the highest level but did play each other on the Challenger circuit in 2019. Musetti had won that easily.

Musetti 7-7 on Clay for 2023
It’s been a bit of a roller-coaster for Musetti this year.
He started off with four wins from four matches in the United Cup but has since then, lost four from four in hardcourt competitions.
On clay too, Musetti is 7-7 on win-loss but it’s been a bit of a mixed bag. He started off with just one round won on the South American clay court swing but followed that up with a quarterfinal appearance at the Monte-Carlo Masters and a semifinal showing in Barcelona.
Wins over Novak Djokovic and Cameron Norrie would have pleased him no end.
Then again, Musetti was sent packing in his very first match at the Madrid Masters by the 100th-ranked Yannick Hanfmann.
With such a see-saw form under his belt, it would be interesting to see what Musetti brings to the table when he faces Arnaldi.

Arnaldi Sends Schwartzman Out
Early last year, Arnaldi was ranked 364th in the world. This week, the 22-year-old Italian enters the Rome Masters having broken into the top 100.
He rightfully earned his wildcard to feature in this tournament having reached the second round of the Barcelona Open and the third round in Madrid – both times as a qualifier.
Here in his home tournament, Arnaldi overcame Diego Schwartzman in a three-setter to find a place in the second round again. He was on court for nearly two and a half hours, working his way through the three sets before sealing his place next to Musetti.
Arnaldi won 6-1, 4-6, 6-3, losing his serve just once in the match while overcoming Schwartzman’s service on four occasions.
He will now hope to keep his run going especially against a player who has been rather inconsistent with his performances this season.
Musetti v Arnaldi Prediction and Tip
While Musetti is a favourite here, we don’t think Arnaldi will give this up without a fight. Expect a long two-setter or a three-set match in the offing.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Arnaldi to win a set – Yes: 8/13
- Moderate Risk Tip: Over 22.5 games in the match: 10/11
