Victoria Azarenka v Madison Keys Head to Head

Azarenka leads 4-1, but she lost their last meeting in the 2023 WTA Dubai. Keys finally got the better of her opponent and won 6-2, 6-1.

Azarenka Moves Past Stephens

Former world number one Victoria Azarenka made quick work of Sloane Stephens in round two of the Italian Open. Needed an hour and 42 minutes, the Belarusian won the match 6-4, 6-3.

The win puts her at 13-9 and well on track to reach yet another quarterfinal in Rome – especially with her bracket now made simpler, thanks to the early exit of Aryna Sabalenka.

The 33-year-old has got quite a bit of history in the competition; she was the runner-up in 2013 and is also a five-time quarterfinalist. On the doubles side of things, she bagged the title in 2019. Azarenka also recently won the Madrid Open with Beatriz Haddad Maia to add to her clay form.

In the singles department, the World No. 17 has had a mixed season – which includes her shocking early-round defeats in Madrid and Charleston – respectively to Alycia Parks and Anna Kalinskaya.

It was a similar story through the Middle East swing and Sunshine Doubles. Vika’s best run of the year came at the Australian Open, where she was in the final four.

Keys Defeats Frech

Number 19 seed Madison Keys defeated Polish qualifier Magdalena Frech 6-3, 6-2. That was her 15th victory of the season – in contrast to just six defeats she has incurred.

The 23rd-ranked American has had a pretty decent year so far. Most recently, she was a quarterfinalist in the Charleston Open. Keys made it to the same round in Dubai, in addition to guiding the United States to their maiden United Cup win in January.

A former world number seven, Madison was the runner-up in Rome in 2016 and a semifinalist at the French Open in 2018. She may not have a far-reaching pedigree like Azarenka, but she does have the skills and experience needed to win big.

Of course, it also makes a difference that she managed to stun Azarenka in their last meeting – and since then, her form has gotten fairly better.

Keys v Azarenka Prediction and Tip

This should be a brilliant affair with many games in the offing. Azarenka is immune to losses, as evident from her recent performances. That gives Keys plenty to work with and spoil things for the Belarusian.

That said, the match can just as easily go bad for Keys too – after all, Vika is a formidable opponent.

Tips:

  • Low-Risk Tip: Azarenka to win: 1/2
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6
