Stefanos Tsitsipas v Lorenzo Musetti Head to Head

There have been four previous meetings between these two players and Tsitsipas has won every single time. This includes three matches on clay with their last meeting in Barcelona earlier this year.

Tsitsipas Winner over Sonego

It took Tsitsipas over two hours but in the end he came away a straight-set winner over Lorenzo Sonego in their third round match.

Tsitsipas, who faced just two break-points in the entire match and saved both of them, also found it difficult to get past his opponent’s serve in the entire encounter. He did earn himself seven break-points but the only time he did manage to break Sonego was in the sixth game of the opening set.

Following this, he squandered away three set-points on Sonego’s serve and two more off his own before converting the sixth to scoop up the set.

The second set proved to be even more difficult as Sonego saved break-points in the fifth and the seventh games and then had set-points of his own in the 10th and 12th. This time around Tsitsipas saved those two and grabbed the match in the following tie-breaker.

This follows a second round win over Nuno Borges which had also come in straight sets for Tsitsipas.

Musetti Scrapes Past Tiafoe

It was a struggle alright but Musetti would be rather pleased to have overcome his world number 12 opponent Frances Tiafoe in the third round.

It was Tiafoe who grabbed the lead by winning the first set but Musetti clawed back to level things out and then broke his opponent twice in the final set to scoop up the fourth round spot.

Musetti took two hours and 38 minutes before winning 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 to follow up 6-4, 6-4 win over Matteo Arnaldi in the previous round.

Having reached the quarterfinal of the Monte-Carlo Masters and the semifinal in Barcelona, Musetti has already shown what he’s capable of on clay.

That being said, he did lose to Tsitsipas this very season on this surface and had entered the European clay swing on the back of a 1-3 win-loss record on the red dirt earlier this year. It won’t be getting any easier against Tsitsipas.

Tsitsipas v Musetti Prediction and Tip

Tsitsipas shouldn’t face a lot of trouble in getting past Musetti but we are unable to decide whether it would be in two or three.
