Our 2023 ATP Lyon Open Predictions & Picks
The form of Felix Auger-Aliassime is causing panic in the Canadian’s camp and Lyon could be another wrinkle despite taking a wild card. He is defending fourth-round points at Roland Garros, so anything less than a title this week and the alarm bells will be at their highest volume.
It’s tough to back Auger-Aliassime and more so Cameron Norrie, the defending champion, who has made the final of the last two editions of the tournament – both are playing well below their current ranking.
Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo is an attractive pick as the tournament’s outright winner. He’s beaten both Norrie and Auger-Aliassime this season. He’s also coming off a quarterfinal run in Rome where he upset Jannik Sinner.
Another Argentine who has improved by leaps and bounds is Tomas Martin Etcheverry as is Quentin Halys – both could offer decent returns to make at least the semis here. Etcheverry might be a bit of a risk given that he is playing in the semifinal of the Bordeaux Challenger at the time of writing.
- Outright Winner Tip: Francisco Cerundolo
- Outright Winner Dark Horse Tip: Quentin Halys
