Our 2023 WTA Strasbourg Open Predictions & Picks
Historically, Strasbourg is one of the few WTA 250s where the seeds have enjoyed sustainable success.
In fact, the last unseeded player to win this tournament goes all the way back to 2014 when Monica Puig became the first and only Puerto Rican champion.
So smart money here is to back two or even three-seeded players to win this tournament or at least make the final.
Magda Linette has come close to winning this tournament, making the last four two years ago. The Pole hasn’t quite managed to back up her Australian Open exploits but is definitely a player with an admirable pedigree on this surface with her first-round stunner against Ons Jabeur at Roland Garros being a case in point.
The likes of Beatriz Haddad Maia, Elise Mertens, and Bernarda Pera will all be gunning to win the first WTA title, with the Brazilian lefty in better form.
But one name that might continue her recent patch of good form is Sorana Cirstea, already a champion at WTA 125k level in Catalonia and is one of the most improved players this season by a mile.
- Outright Winner Tip: Magda Linette
- Outright Winner Dark Horse Tip: Sorana Cirstea
