For a player who was, not very long ago, ranked 21st in the world, Teichmann’s form has fallen away drastically. She has played 19 main draw matches this season and won a mere eight of them, leaving herself a lot of work to do as we approach the season’s second Grand Slam.
Teichmann has a very solid overall record on clay and what will make her sense something is off with her game is her performance on the same surface in 2023.
Sure she did make the quarterfinal of the Reus Open but that was a WTA 125 event and she was up against players with 3/1 odds to win it in the first two rounds there.
Other than that result, Teichmann has fallen to Lina Fruhvirtova, Lesia Tsurenko and Julia Grabher in her openers at Charleston, Madrid and Rome.
And that’s where her opponent will reckon she has a good chance to shrug off her own odds and go past the struggling Swiss woman.

Zanevska’s Performances Peaked at Lyon
Earlier in February this season, Zanevska made it to the semifinals of the indoor tournament in Lyon. While that was a cause for celebration for Zanevska, she hasn’t quite lived up to those performances again.
In fact, since reaching that semifinal in that tournament, Zanevska went through a five-match losing streak and since then has lost three of the following five matches.
This includes a first round defeat in Rome at the hands of Barbora Strycova who is currently ranked outside the top 1100 on the WTA Rankings. Zanevska had also started off a whopping 1/4 to win that match but fell in three.
Which is why despite Teichmann’s own form issues, Zanevska might not start things off as a favourite in this one.
