Alize Cornet v Viktoriya Tomova Head to Head
The head-to-head is tied at 1-1. Viktoriya Tomova pulled off the shock way back in 2019 in Osaka, but Cornet did get her revenge at the 2022 Australian Open.

Strasbourg is one of Alize Cornet’s favorite cities and in particular, the WTA 250 event held there, which Cornet has headlined the championship match twice in her career and walked away with the prize in 2013.
A decade on since that triumph and Cornet will return to the event for the first time since 2021. Although in recent years she’s failed to navigate the first-round hurdle and lost in the round of 16 in her last appearance.
Judging by the formbook, the Frenchwoman will struggle to get any sort of momentum under her belt with French Open looming into view.
Cornet is 7-11 for the season which is uninspiring and it’s the kind of stat that has helped her opponents to believe maybe the Frenchwoman is vulnerable these days.
The 33-year-old chose to play at the WTA 125K series in Paris this past week but lost in the quarterfinals to Katie Volynets.

Viktoriya Tomova climbed to a career-high No. 73 shortly after winning the W80 ITF event in Zaragoza, Spain in April – her first title at any level since 2020.
It was on clay, which for most of her career, is Tomova’s most-preferred surface. The Bulgarian took down some pesky opponents in her wake including Tereza Martincova in the final.
Tomova had played in a limited capacity at Tour level prior to that success, but she’s never been one to shy from a challenge.
In spite of a difficult start to her 2023 campaign, Tomova’s run to the second round in Dubai as a qualifier earned her a shot at Jessica Pegula and took the American to three sets.
Since that defeat, she went on a tear on the ITF circuit winning seven of her eight matches punctuating in the aforementioned title success.
Tomova’s ranking has vaulted to a career-high No. 73 and was last in action at the Italian Open where she lost to Yulia Putintseva in three sets.
Cornet v Tomova Prediction and Tip
Even when the chips are down, Cornet has always given her absolute maximum in terms of effort. But there is no dining from what has been a difficult campaign with a famine of just seven wins. Tomova is in better form and we like her chances of knocking off the former champion.
