She is all of 18 years of age and still in very early days of her tennis career but Fruhvirtova has already wowed audience with her tennis. It’s been the kind of play that has seen her jump into the top 50 of the WTA Rankings too.
What has. however, not gone Fruhvirtova’s way is her performance on clay.
Since starting out at the Charleston Open, Fruhvirtova has made the second round there and the second round in Madrid but to go with that, has also lost in the qualifiers of the Stuttgart Open and in the first round of the Italian Open.
What makes it worse is her Italian Open defeat came at the hands of Elena Gabriela Ruse and saw her win just one game in the entire match.
Can she turn things around in Rabat with a relatively straightforward opener?

Buyukakcay More Focussed on the ITF Circuit
She was once ranked 60th in the world but Buyukakcay has fallen to outside the top 250 at the moment. This has forced her into playing on the ITF circuit and even that hasn’t helped her too much.
If one includes her performances in the Billie Jean King Cup, Buyukakcay has won just 12 of her 23 matches this season and while some might argue that’s a reasonable showing, we must quickly that it’s come in ITF tournaments.
Making it worse is she has reached the quarterfinals of just two events and both of those came in January. Since then, Buyukakcay hasn’t won successive matches.
Now up against the youth of Fruhvirtova, Buyukakcay will hope to use some of his experience but the way things have gone for her and the manner in which she has found difficult to even defeat the top-200 players in the world, it would be a big surprise to see her waltz through in this one.

Fruhvirtova’s form might not be good but we back her to win this. Might see Buyukakcay put up a bit of a challenge and if Fruvirtova doesn’t make a quick start, might even see Buyukakcay win a set but that’s about it.
