Iga Swiatek v Cristina Bucsa Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came earlier this year at the Australian Open and Swiatek had scorched her opponent 6-0, 6-1.

Swiatek Begins Title Defence
Swiatek enters the French Open this season as a favourite but there is a bit of a question-mark around how big a favourite would she be.
For one, Swiatek has had a couple of injury scares this season. She complained of fitness concerns after her Indian Wells Open semifinal defeat and then missed the Miami Open as a result.
This was followed by her retirement from the Italian Open quarterfinal, again while playing Elena Rybakina.
And this may or may not be related to her fitness, but her form hasn’t been as superlative as it was last season. Now we do understand it’s difficult to replicate the kind of year she had in 2022 but Swiatek has won just two titles this year and both came in lower tournaments unlike her brilliant run last season.
Swiatek will obviously hope she can turn things around at her favourite Grand Slam and kick-start the proceedings with a solid showing.

Bucsa on a Four-Match Losing Streak
Bucsa looked to have made a good switch over to clay as she first made the second round of the Charleston Open with a shock win over Marie Bouzkova and then repeated that as a qualifier in Stuttgart. There she defeated Tamara Korpatsch in the opener.
Since then, however, Bucsa hasn’t had too much going her way.
She was roundly defeated by Paula Badosa in the second round there and then fell to Rebeka Masarova, Sofia Kenin and Magda Linette in the following three matches.
The only silver lining for Bucsa is she managed to put up a fight in each of those aforementioned losses. Unfortunately for her, she has been drawn to play the world number one here.
Swiatek v Bucsa Prediction and Tip
Swiatek might not have been in the best of form in recent times but she sure won’t give up on an opportunity like this pass by. A straight-set win looks par for the course.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Under 16.5 games in the match: 4/6
