Lauren Davis v Anna Blinkova Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these players with both having won one. Neither match came on clay though and one of them was played as recently as the Hobart International earlier this year which Davis won in straight sets.

Davis Saves Match-Points in Her Win
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova was a set up and was serving for the match against Davis in the second. She went 40-30 up, missed a match-points and then had another match-point which Davis saved again.
Very soon, Davis had broken Pavlyuchenkova again, and taken the set into a tie-breaker in which she romped to a 7-2 win.
With Davis now very charged up and Pavlyuchenkova having lost her rhythm – and not to mention, her morale – there was just one way the match was headed from that point on.
Davis broke her opponent three times and while she missed two match-points of her own in the sixth game, she converted the third to clinch a place in the semifinal.
Can she now trouble the 66th-ranked player from Russian whose only previous semifinal of the season came in Hobart and was ended by Davis herself?

Blinkova Eases Past Emma
While Emma Navarro had gone into their quarterfinal as a favourite it was Blinkova who held the advantage through most part of the encounter as she pocketed a straight-set win.
Blinkova did need an hour and 41 minutes but came through 6-4, 6-4 to make it to the semifinal of a WTA event for only the second time this season.
In a match which had eight breaks of serves, including three off Blinkova, the Russian found a way to keep her nose in front throughout the encounter. For instance, in the first, Blinkova broke two successive times, only to be broken back but it was in the fifth game that she earned a decisive break.
The Russian then needed to save six break-points at 4-3, missed four set-points at 5-3 and finally won the set in the very next game.
A decisive break of serve in the ninth game of the second set was followed by a serve to love in the next to allow Blinkova a much-deserved place in the final four.
Davis v Blinkova Prediction and Tip
Davis will hold a slight advantage here but we reckon there’s not much to choose between the two. Still, going with Davis for this one.
