Third Match Since Comeback for Korda
Sebastian Korda had a terrific start to his 2023 campaign. He reached the final of the Adelaide International in the opening week of the season mastering victories over Andy Murray, Jannik Sinner, and Roberto Bautista Agut.
He would hold a championship point in the final against Novak Djokovic but lost heartbreakingly in three sets.
That result only furthered fuelled Korda’s desire to emulate his father in becoming an Australian Open champion. In Melbourne, he shocked two-time finalist Daniil Medvedev en route to the quarterfinals where he sadly succumbed to a wrist injury and retired from his match.
The injury proved the ultimate downfall in Korda’s first half of the season, forcing him to spend three months on the sidelines, missing the important events in North America and the European clay.
Korda returned to action in Madrid but lost to Hugo Grenier in straight sets. His lack of match play proved significant in yet another early defeat at his last tournament before Roland Garros in Rome – going down to Roman Saifullin in straight sets.
Let’s see if he has the physical capacity to play a best-of-five match after three months out of action.

Can McDonald Pull off Another Stunner?
Mackenzie McDonald is no stranger to upsetting the apple cart at Grand Slam level. He pulled off a major shock at the Australian Open in January, beating 22-time Major winner Rafael Nadal, albeit with the Spaniard operating with an injury.
But victory is all that counts in the history books, how he did it, is a question for another day. That result actually rekindled McDonald’s season after stuttering in his first two tournaments.
He was part of the USA team that successfully qualified for the Davis Cup Finals in February, and soon after, made the semifinals in Delray and a quarterfinal at the ATP 500 event in Acapulco – the first time he’s done so in a year.
McDonald won a grand total of three matches at the Sunshine Swing where he reached the third round in Miami.
But that bright spark has since gone off and he’s lost six straight matches coming to the French Open. And worryingly for him, he’s only managed to take a set in two matches.
Korda v McDonald Prediction and Tip
The money line market looks a bit risky considering just how short Korda is fitness-wise. At the same time, McDonald has been in horrendous form. Look out for the sets market as we can’t this one being a straight-sets win for either player.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Over 3.5 sets in the match: 4/6
- Low Risk Tip: Korda to win: 1/2
