Kecmanović 7-6 on Clay This Season

After having made a runaway start to the clay court swing, Kecmanovic’s form has tapered off a little.

The Serb went all the way through to the final of the Estoril Open in April and was then a semifinalist in Banja Luka, two ATP 250 tournaments. However, when it was turn to convert that form into something bigger at the Madrid and Rome Masters, Kecmanovic spectacularly failed.

At the Madrid Masters, he was taken down by Cristian Garin in the second round following an opening bye. Kecmanovic then got another first round bye in Rome only to lose to Fabio Fognini in the second.

And while he stalled his three-match losing streak in Lyon earlier this week, a second round, straight-set loss to Jack Draper means we are back to square one.

Things might be getting any easier for Kecmanovic here.

Vavassori Shocks Tabilo in the Qualifiers

It’s been a season that’s built up very nicely for Vavassori so far. Having played in just one hardcourt competition, Vavassori began his clay court journey for the year in early February and has continued to feature on the dirt since then.

A quarterfinal appearance at the San Remo Challenger in March was followed by his best showing on the ATP circuit when he shocked Nicolas Jarry and Jaume Munar to make the last eight stage in Marrakesh too.

Another quarterfinal showing at the Oeiras Challenger followed soon after before he qualified for the Madrid Masters and defeated Andy Murray in the first round. While he failed to take that form forward in Cagliari and Rome, Vavassori has done rather well to qualify for the French Open for the first time in his career.

The Italian player defeated Titouan Droguet, Filip Misolic and Alejandro Tabilo in successive straight-sets to make the main draw. Can he now grab the match by its scruff against Kecmanovic as well?

Kecmanović v Vavassori Prediction and Tip

While Kecmanovic is a favourite here, we wouldn’t mind putting our faith in Vavassori who has looked like he has been waiting in the ranks for a while now.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Games Handicap Vavassori +4.5: 4/5
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 0.5 tie-breakers in the match: 5/6
