Van de Zandschulp on a Three-Match Losing Streak
World no. 30 Botic van de Zandschulp is fine clay court player, but he heads to the French Open on the back of three consecutive defeats.
For the second consecutive year, the Dutchman had reached the final of the Munich Open. While last year, he had to retire after just seven games in the match against Holger Rune, this year he went down fighting against Rune to finish runner-up again.
Since that defeat in the final in Munich, Van de Zandschulp lost his opening round matches in Madrid and Rome, both in straight sets. So he will be a bit concerned about his current form as he prepares to make his third appearance at the French Open. He made it to the second round in 2021 and the third round in 2022 and ill be hoping to go past the first round once again.
Overall the 27-year-old is 13-12 this season and 4-5 on clay. He has won just one match on clay outside Munich and that was the first round win in Monte-Carlo.

Tirante Comes Through Quaifiers
Twenty-two-year-old Thiago Agustin Tirante is all set to make his Grand Slam debut at the French Open after he won all three of his qualifying round matches this week.
Tirante knocked out Rinky Hijikata 6-3, 6-2 in the first qualifying round and then defeated Gauthier Onclin 6-1, -6, 6-4. In the final qualifying round on Thursday, the Argentine won another three-setter, holding off Dominic Stricker 6-3, 1-6, 6-1.
Tirante has not played a tour-level match this season, but he has an overall record of 24-13, which includes a 17-10 run on clay.
Ranked no. 153rd in the world, Tirante featured in two finals this year, finishing runner-up at the Mexico City Challenger on clay in April, but winning the title at the Morelos Challenger on hard court last month.
Tirante’s lower level record shows that he likes playing on clay, but can he replicate that form at the biggest stage?
