Shelby Rogers v Petra Martic Head to Head
Martic leads 2-1, last beating Rogers in the 2022 Wimbledon in straight sets.

Martic Fielding some Clay Form
Croatia’s Petra Martic has had a mixed year overall – but she should fancy her chances of a good start in the Roland Garros 2023.
After all, this is one Slam where she has done better than the rest – which includes a quarterfinal result in 2019. Over the last two seasons, however, she was beaten in round one itself.
Perhaps, the third time will be the charm for Martic, who has arrived in Paris with a record of 13-11. Her notable results are her runner-up feat in the Linz Open and a quarterfinal feat in the Madrid Masters. In these two events, the 32-year-old moved past the likes of Maria Sakkari and Barbora Krejickova.
At the same time, Petra (now ranked World No. 38) has had to make do with shocking losses, too; she was stunned by Camila Osorio (#100) in the opening match in Rome.

Rogers in a Rocky Tide
30-year-old Shelby Rogers, who is ranked world number 34, is low on rhythm and traction on clay. Over the course of her career, there have been only four seasons where she has won more matches than lost on the dirt courts.
Most recently, the veteran American fell to the rising Czech teenager Linda Noskova in Rome round one and, before that, to Irina-Camelia Begu in Madrid round three.
It was a similar story for Rogers in Charleston, too (round three defeat to Belinda Bencic). Her best season results came in Abu Dhabi (quarterfinal as a qualifier). Apart from that, she has incurred her fair share of early losses.
Shelby’s record right now is 14-11, and in Paris, she is, like Martic, a one-time quarterfinalist.
Martic v Rogers Prediction and Tip
Not a whole lot separates the two ladies, which is why we may be looking at a tight match here. Martic will start as the odds-on favourite, however, due to her superior clay form, but that does not guarantee her a flawless victory.
Tips:
- Low-Risk Tip: Martic to win: 4/5
- Moderate Risk Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6
