Jarry Will Start Next Week at Career-Best Ranking

It has been an unforgettable season for Jarry so far. The Chilean had begun the season ranked outside the top 150 but here we are and he will be ranked 35th by the time he takes to court for his opening round match at this tournament.

Jarry, who had one ATP title to his credit before the start of this season, has added two more to his kitty. The first came at home in Santiago but more vitally, he showed it was no fluke in the second in Geneva.

And it wasn’t just about winning the tournament but also the kind of opposition he overcame to clinch the trophy.

After wins over Dusan Lajovic and Tallon Griekspoor – two tricky opponents in their own right – Jarry defeated Alexander Zverev, Casper Ruud and Grigor Dimitrov to make it his third title at this level.

With the kind of form that he has had, the only thing stopping Jarry in this opener is the possibility of exhaustion from having played the week before the French Open.

Dellien Enters on Protected Ranking

He might have fallen to 160th in the world but his protected ranking of 64th is what has allowed Dellien to enter this tournament without the need to go through the qualifiers.

Dellien, however, has had a decent time of late on clay. Whether it’s his semifinal appearance at the Cordoba Open earlier this year, a quarterfinal in Rio or his title win at the Santiago Challenger, Dellien has done well enough to deserve his place in the main draw here.

What might be a bit of a bother for Dellien is he is now on a four-match losing streak at the highest level. Sure, they have been interspersed with his performance at the Santiago Challenger and Oieras Challenger tournaments, but he still hasn’t won an ATP main draw match since February.

And that could be a bit of an issue as Dellien looks to find a way back into the top 100 of the rankings.

Jarry v Dellien Prediction and Tip

Jarry should have no problems here, with a straight-set win looking likely.
