Second Main Draw In Paris for Noskova

Linda Noskova has enjoyed a brief meteoric rise since she won the junior French Open title two years ago.

Last year, she qualified for the main draw on the senior tour and lost to 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu in three sets. She continued to ply her trade on the ITF circuit in 2022 winning two titles.

Noskova was also successful in reaching the US Open main draw last summer but she’s had to wait for that elusive first win on the main draw proper.

Can she get it on Tuesday? She plays a very good clay-court player in Danka Kovinic. But if anything, Noskova has built a champions mentality in her young career.

The 18-year-old reached her first WTA final in Adelaide in January beating a formidable trio of Kasatkina, Azarenka and Jabeur. She has broken the world’s top 50 as a result of that rousing run and a quarterfinal showing a month later in Lyon.

Let’s see what Noskova is made of when she returns to the main draw for the second year in a row.

Kovinic Not To Be Written Off

Danka Kovinic is 10 years Noskova’s senior and is more experienced at the top level. But that doesn’t give her an easy pass in this matchup.

Kovinic has had one deep run on the WTA Tour this season, reaching a semifinal in the very first week of the campaign in Auckland.

Since then she’s picked more wins on the ITF circuit, tallying five straight wins to win the Oeiras W100 ITF tournament in Portugal in a very decent field.

There she defeated the likes of Eugenie Bouchard, Marie Bouzkova, Sorribes Tormo and Rebeka Masarova. It’s the second successive year that the Montenegrin has won a W100 – the highest-level ITF tournament on the calendar.

Kovinic was last in action at the Italian Open in Rome where she retired 6-2 4-1 down to Barbora Krejcikova due to a back injury.

Noskova v Kovinic Prediction and Tip

Noskova was not far off from beating Raducanu last year. But there is a good chance she’ll do so against a potentially ailing Danka Kovinic who retired in Rome with a back injury.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Noskova to win: 4/5
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Noskova to win in straight sets: 9/5
