Anna Karolina Schmiedlova v Aliona Bolsova Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two with Bolsova having won both times. The first match came on the clay courts of Bogota in 2021 while they also met in Merida earlier this year.

Schmiedlova Shocks Kudermetova
Veronika Kudermetova became the third highest seeded player to get knocked out of the tournament in the very first round when she fell to the 6/1 underdog Schmiedlova. What made the defeat feel even better for Schmiedlova than it actually was the margin of the win.
Schmiedlova needed an hour and 20 minutes to send the 11th seeded Kudermetova packing 6-3, 6-1 and seal her second successive second round appearance at the French Open.
While Schmiedlova was herself broken three times, she was right back at the struggling Kudermetova serve. In fact all three of the breaks against Schmiedlova came in the first set – in the first three service games in fact – but the Slovak retaliated with a break of her own to make it 3-3.
From that point onward, Schmiedlova held her serve easily while getting the better of Kudermetova’s serve five more times!
Can she overturn her record against Bolsova?

Bolsova Upends Kucova
While Bolsova had entered the tournament main draw as a lucky loser thanks to the withdrawal of Ajla Tomljanovic, she did not face too many difficulties overcoming Kristina Kucova in the first round.
Bolsova lived up to her 1/3 favourites odds as she sent Kucova packing 6-2, 6-1 and seal her second round berth at the French Open for the second time.
The former world number 88 was on court for a mere 70 minutes in which she dropped her serve twice but also managed to get the better of Kucova’s serve on seven occasions. In fact it was Kucova who drew first blood by going 2-0 up but from that point onward, Bolsova won 12 of the next 13 games to seal her victory.
The Spaniard has been doing well on the lower circuit with a clay title win in an ITF circuit tournament under her belt but this would go a long way in helping regain some of her confidence at the highest level.
Schmiedlova v Bolsova Prediction and Tip
While Schmiedlova is a favourite we think Bolsova has the game to disrupt her opponent’s rhythm and at 11/10, has tempting odds to go with too.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Bolsova to win a set: 4/9
- Moderate Risk Tip: Bolsova to win: 11/10
