Elina Svitolina v Anna Blinkova Head to Head

Svitolina leads 1-0, beating Blinkova just last week in WTA Strasbourg final 6-2, 6-3.

Svitolina Enjoying a Good Spell

Since returning to the WTA Tour after a year-long maternity hiatus, Elina Svitolina has found her groove rather quickly. She joined the fray ranked outside the top 1000 and is now already #192 (10-6).

Her first tournaments were rough but she turned the tide around in Saint-Malo, where she was a semifinalist.

What followed for Svitolina was a first-round loss in Rome to Lesia Tsurenko, but she made up for it with a title run in the Strasbourg International. That was Svitolina’s 17th career title – and a big win at that as she donated the prize money to children affected by the war in her homeland.

So far in Paris, Svitolina has beaten last year’s semifinalist Martina Trevisan 6-2, 6-2, and next Storm Hunter 2-6, 6-3, 6-1.

As a three-time quarterfinalist in Paris, the 28-year-old has good prospects of carving a similar result this time around too.

Blinkova Upsets Garcia Again

Russia’s Anna Blinkova just posted a massive win by knocking out the fifth seed, home favourite Caroline Garcia. It took the 24-year-old almost three hours to knock out the reigning WTA Finals champion 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.

She could have finished the match sooner as she did squander seven match points before finally breaking Caro’s spirits – but nerves do play a role here. Funny enough, she defeated Garcia in the 2019 French Open in the same round in three sets.

Before Caroline, Blinkova beat Ysaline Bonaventure 6-2, 6-0 in the opening match this week.

Anna has spent the majority of the season settling for early exits. Her record is 19-14 at the moment, with a singles ranking of World No. 56 – supported largely by her semifinal feat in Hobart and runner-up feat in Strasbourg.

Svitolina v Blinkova Prediction and Tip

Svitolina beat Anna last week – can she do it again? On paper, yes. In reality, anything can happen. Blinkova may be motivated to avoid another loss but then again, so will Elina. By the looks of it, the Ukrainian has the advantage here in all regards – experience, momentum, and pedigree.

Tips:

  • Low-Risk Tip: Svitolina to win: 1/3
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6
