Kasatkina Overwhelms Stearns

The manner in which Peyton Stearns had been playing all season, it looked like the bookmakers had done her a grave injustice in tipping her a whopping 2/1 to win this. She should have been far shorter than that if not at 1/1 according to a few.

It was one of those days, however, when it didn’t matter what Stearns did, because it looked she was destined to lose.

Kasatkina was benefitted from a whopping 30 unforced errors off the racquet of Stearns in the entire match. To give you a context this was higher than the sum of all the winners and unforced errors that came from Kasatkina (14 and 12 respectively).

In the end, Kasatkina sent Stearns on a ride, winning 6-0, 6-1 in a mere 57 minutes while facing not a single break-point in the match.

This followed straight-set wins over Jule Niemeier and Marketa Vondrousova in the first two rounds for Kasatkina.

Svitolina Puts it Across the Fighting Blinkova

For the second match in a row, Svitolina was taken to the third set and again, she found a way to make it through and enter the next stage.

This time around Svitolina overcame a fighting performance from Anna Blinkova whom she defeated 2-6, 6-2, 7-5, much like she had defeated Storm Hunter in the previous round from being a set down.

Svitolina, who had entered this tournament on the back of a title win in Strasbourg, was on court for two hours and 16 minutes and while she was broken six times in this match, she still managed to find a way back.

Both players lost their serves thrice in the first and second sets respectively while in the third, Svitolina went up a break on two occasions. She had a chance to serve it out at 5-4 but while she missed that, she did not waste her second chance at 6-5.

Can she now stop an in-form Kasatkina here?

Kasatkina v Svitolina Prediction and Tip

Things have looked quite good for Kasatkina and she can be expected to start off as a favourite despite Svitolina’s fighting performances in this tournament. Backing her to win but for the match to be anything but one-sided.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Kasatkina to win: 1/2
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6
