Iga Swiatek v Lesia Tsurenko Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two players and both were won by Swiatek. Both those matches came on clay and include one at the French Open last year and another at Rome earlier this year.

Swiatek has lost a total of four games across those two matches.

Swiatek Double-Bagels Wang

It was the kind of performance that champions dish out when they are at their best and spot an opponent’s weakness.

in case of Swiatek’s third round match against Xinyu Wang, the world number one found her opponent’s serve to be the one to go after and she did that in fine style.

Swiatek allowed Wang to win just eight points on her own serve, while the Polish player earned 25 of those to her own kitty. What that meant was that Swiatek broke Wang six times, but more importantly never allowed her opponent to win a single game-point.

And if that was how brutal she was on her opponent’s serve, Swiatek wasn’t going to allow Wang to do much on her own serve. Swiatek did not face a single break-point as she came through 6-0, 6-0 in a mere 51 minutes to set up this meeting with Tsurenko.

Can she now make it another easy victory on her way to the quarterfinals?

Tsurenko Continues to Make Merry

Currently aged 34, Tsurenko is ranked 66th in the world which is a few places behind her previous best of 23rd on the WTA charts.

In this tournament, however, Tsurenko has dished out a performance that has come straight out of her old, sparkling self.

It’s included three wins without dropping a set and while Lauren Davis might have had to retire from their second round match, it looks highly likely she would have met the fate of Tsurenko’s other two opponent’s anyway.

Because the manner in which she crushed Bianca Andreescu in the third round, it turned out to be a performance to behold.

Tsurenko won 6-1, 6-1 in a mere 63 minutes, breaking her opponent three times in each of the two sets. Interestingly, Tsurenko got six break-points and converted all of them making it as clinical a showing as it could get.

Now Swiatek is a different kettle of fish obviously but there’s every chance she will have a chance to put up a better fight than she has so far against the world number one.

Swiatek v Tsurenko Prediction and Tip

Swiatek’s straight-set win looks like a formality but the bigger question is if Tsurenko can avoid a repeat of the previous two drubbings she has received from her. We think Tsurenko might do a bit better this time.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Under 5.5 breaks of serves for Swiatek: 2/5
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 16.5 games in the match: 1/1
