French Open 2023 Predictions & Tips for Thursday, June 8

Aryna Sabalenka v Karolina Muchova Tips Here

Sabalenka’s season continues to grow and glow and she is now one step away from making it to her second successive Grand Slam final.

The Australian Open winner was an easy 6-4, 6-4 winner and while she courted some controversy after that by wanting to shake her hands with Elina Svitolina, the fact is the Belarusian was a runaway victor in that match.

Like she has been all tournament, having also notched up her 14th win on clay this year to go with a mere two defeats. She next faces a surprise semifinalist in Muchova, who put an end to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova’s run in the tournament with a straight-set win.

Muchova, who had upset Maria Sakkari in the first round has also overcome Nadia Podoroska, Irina Begu and Elina Avanesyan in her previous rounds.

And while Sabalenka will be a difficult opponent, those wins will give her the necessary boost to take on the might of the world number two.

Iga Swiatek v Beatriz Haddad Maia Tips Here

In what will be the second meeting between these two players, Swiatek starts off as a huge favourite as you would expect. What Haddad Maia does have is a memory of what happened the first time they faced off and that was a win at the Rogers Cup last season.

That isn’t to say it would have a lot of bearing on this encounter given the kind of form that Swiatek has shown in this tournament. Her biggest threat so far came in the quarterfinal and Swiatek was at her destructive best again, defeating Cori Gauff 6-4, 6-2.

Previously she had won four sets by a 6-0 margin including a double-bagel against Xinyu Wang.

Haddad Maia has shown a fighting performance though and that includes a three-set win over Ons Jabeur in the quarterfinal. And that from being a set down.

Even previously, Haddad Maia had won three successive matches in three sets, making one believe she might have the spirit coming into this one. Will she have the game though? Looks highly unlikely.

Kato/Puetz v Andreescu/Venus Tips Here

Kato had been disqualified from the women’s doubles competition for accidentally hitting a ball girl but that hasn’t stopped her from being at her best and making it to the mixed doubles final with Tim Putz.

What’s interesting to note is the pair hasn’t played a single seeded team in the tournament and are yet to drop a set. And that’s what gives them a slight edge in this one which we will be going for as well.

Tip: Kato/Puetz to win: 4/5

Dodig/Krajicek v Granollers/Zeballos Tips Here

Granollers and Zeballos have had a tournament to remember so far having also knocked out the top seeds Neal Skupski and Wesley Koolhof in the previous rounds in straight sets. They start off a heavy favourite here and we will have to go with them too.

Tip: Granollers/Zeballos to win: 8/15

Gille/Vliegen v Middlekoop/Mies Tips Here

This could go either way with Middlekoop and Mies holding a slight edge and we expect this to go into a third set.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 11/10
