While Huesler’s record in hardcourt competitions has been decent this year, his statistics took a deep nose-dive on the clay circuit.
Huesler won just one of the six matches he was on court for on clay and is on a five-match losing streak coming into his first match of the season on grass. And it’s not like grass is his favourite surface either.
He has played in just two matches on this surface in his career and lost both of them. Both those matches came last year – at Halle and Wimbledon – and saw him crash out in the first round at both.
The Swiss player will hope to turn things around here as he takes to court in a tournament he has never played before even in the qualifiers.

Cressy’s Only Career Title Has Come on Grass
It was at the Newport Open last season where Cressy won his maiden ATP title and that it came on grass means he enters this year’s Rosmalen Open on the back of a four-match winning streak.
Add an appearance in the final of the Eastbourne International and we are looking at a player who relishes his time on this surface making him a strong favourite coming into this encounter against a struggling Huesler.
The other side of the coin is Cressy’s form this year and it’s not been the best.
It did start off well with a finals appearance on the indoor hardcourts of Montpellier but since then, Cressy has a 2-11 win-loss record under his belt. And that’s something that he would like to change in a jiffy.
This will be a good chance given his opponent’s pedigree and his own love for grass.
