Olga Gets a Chance to Make an Impression
The young Serbian, who is currently the World No. 115, has got herself a wonderful opportunity in Miami to make a name for herself. Having been given a wildcard into the main draw, she has avoided going through the qualifiers – something she hasn’t been that good at this season.
For instance, in Brisbane, the Australian, and Indian Wells, she ended up losing in the first round of qualifiers. As for the other events, she didn’t make it past the early rounds. However, last week, Danilovic played in the 125K Series event in Guadalajara last week, where she was a quarterfinalist.
She had a brilliant time last year when she won the Moscow River Cup, along with a couple of ITF events.
Sakkari Looking for a Turnaround
Just like Olga, Sakkari too had a career-defining season last year when she reached the final in San Jose and semifinal in WTA Seoul. She also made her debut in the top 30 around that time, but couldn’t do enough to stay in there.
In the year so far, she has won only two matches – both of which came in the Australian Open. Apart from that, Sakkari has lost all of her opening matches. In Indian Wells, the Greek lost to the American qualifier Christina McHale in the first round in straight sets.

Danilovic is still young and she lacks the experience currently. However, if the last fortnight is any indication, it doesn’t matter much whether a player is experienced or not. Given Sakkari’s recent struggles with her form, the Serbian can certainly capitalise on it and see herself through the next round.
But it is going to be a tough job for Olga to accomplish. Sakkari is a hard-hitter and has delivered interesting results at times.
