All 32 matches scheduled for Tuesday at the 2019 Miami Open were rained off and will now be played on Wednesday.
2016 Olympic gold-medallist Monica Puig, former semifinalist Andrea Petkovic, and upcoming teenager Amanda Anisomova were all expected on court on Tuesday but poor weather marred the competition start for all of them.
As a result, the Miami Open order of play for Wednesday will now accommodate all of these players and some of the others who will be in action.
Action on Wednesday will begin at the Stadium court with a ribbon-cutting ceremony before Victoria Azarenka takes on Dominika Cibulkova in the first match on that court. Janko Tipsarevic will be next on court before Tomas Berdych faces Bernard Tomic in the third match of the day.
Later in the evening, Indian Wells Open winner Bianca Andreescu will be in action as she plays Irina-Camelia Begu in her opening round match.
Men’s qualifiers will resume on Wednesday as well with the likes of Auger-Aliassime, Lorenzi, Cuevas and Tsonga to be in action as well. Tsonga is playing in his first ever qualifiers in any ATP tournament since 2007.
Among others who will take to court today are Reilly Opelka, Marcel Granollers, Denis Istomin, Radu Albot and Prajnesh Gunneswaran who had a decent run at the Indian Wells Masters before losing to Ivo Karlovic.
