Defending champion Ekaterina Alexandrova is two wins away from another final as the fourth seed Russian reached the quarterfinals with a straight sets win over Kimberly Birrell on Thursday.

Alexandrova, who defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the final last year, needed an hour and 32 minutes to beat the Australian 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) in the second round.

The world no. 26 did not face a single break point in the match and she converted 1 of 3 break points to oust the world no. 117.

Alexandrova had begun her campaign with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over compatriot Evgeniya Rodina in the first round.

With the two wins, Alexandrova is now 15-11 for the season. It is the third time she has reached the quarterfinal this year, following her last eight finishes in Miami and Charleston.

A three-time champion from four WTA finals, Alexandrova is on a seven-match winning streak in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Can she keep the streak going?

Alexandrova v Bektas Prediction and Tip
