de Minaur Stretched by Djere

It’s neither been a great season for de Minaur and nor did he have the best of starts to the grass swing of things.

De Minaur would have hoped to do a lot better than come through 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-3 against Laslo Djere, a man more known for his time on clay. The good news, however, is that de Minaur had a good two hours and 13 minutes long workout in his first match on grass and that might help.

What will also help is the manner in which de Minaur served, not losing a single game off it despite facing five break-points. He broke his opponent three times in the process including twice in the first and once in the decider.

This follows de Minaur’s previous two seasons on grass in which he had made the fourth round at Wimbledon 2022 and won a title in Eastbourne in 2021. Can he work his way back with a similar showing this season too?

Griekspoor Has No Worries against Popyrin

Alexei Popyrin has had his time under the sun this season and which is also why he wasn’t that much of a second favourite going into his second round match against Griekspoor. Griekspoor, however, did not give his Aussie opponent much of a chance as he cruised into the last eight in straight sets.

In a match that lasted a mere 61 minutes, Griekspoor prevented an all-Aussie quarterfinal as he won 6-3, 6-2.

Such was his dominance that Griekspoor lost just five points off his first serve and another five off his second serve, not facing a single break-point in the process. On the other hand, he broke his opponent all the three times he got an opportunity.

This follows a three-set win over Mikael Ymer in the first set.

These two victories are Griekspoor’s first set of successive wins since Rotterdam in February. There, he had made the semifinal too. Can he do the same here?

de Minaur v Griekspoor Prediction and Tip

De Minaur might have taken time to get going but on grass he does have an advantage over Griekspoor. Can he clinch this easily?

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: de Minaur to win: 3/5
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 23.5 games in the match: 10/11
