Victoria Azarenka v Aliaksandra Sasnovich Head to Head
Victoria Azarenka leads the head-to-head 1-0. She defeated Sasnovich in straight sets in their only meeting in Indian Wells in 2021.

Modest Start to Grass Court Swing for Azarenka
Victoria Azarenka has won most of the biggest titles on the women’s tour, but not on grass, where the Belarusian, who is now 33, has reached one singles final in her career.
Azarenka won bronze though at the London Olympics games in 2012 and has reached a handful of semifinals.
She is still an all-court player (make no mistake about it), with her versatile big-hitting game suiting almost every playing surface.
Last year, Azarenka didn’t play a single match on grass, with Wimbledon’s ban on Belarusian players allowing her to pull the plug on her grass swing preparations, and instead, decided to shift her focus on the North American hard-court season.
This year, the ban has since been lifted, and Azarenka kickstarted her preparations at the Rosmalen Championships this past week, where she was beaten in the second round by American teenager Ashlyn Krueger.

Sasnovich Surpassed Azarenka in Den Bosch
Aliaksandra Sasnovich had a more productive stay at the Rosmalen Championships. She reached her first semifinal on the WTA Tour since August, but lost out to eventual champion Ekaterina Alexandrova 7-6 6-1.
Sasnovich has had a difficult year, winning just eight matches all season before last week. She has managed to get double-digit match wins with her run to the semis and pushed her ranking to inside the top 70.
The 29-year-old has earned a main draw berth in Berlin as a late replacement for Shelby Rogers and will attempt to emulate last year’s run where she reached the last eight.
Her quarterfinal win over Liudmila Samsonoviva (albeit a retirement win) was her first against a top-20 player this season, having lost her three preceding matches against that caliber of opponents.
Will she add her second when she faces compatriot Victoria Azarenka in her Berlin opener?
Azarenka v Sasnovich Prediction and Tip
It’s very rare to see Azarenka throw in a stinker, but last week’s defeat to Krueger was unquestionably her worst performance of the season (winning just five games). Surely, we will see a reaction here. But Sasnovich is coming in with a bit of momentum and might be an attractive pick outright.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Over 19.5 games in the match: 1/2
- Moderate Risk Tip: Sasnovich to win: 6/4
