Sorana Cirstea v Ana Bogdan Head to Head
They played twice so far and Bogdan won both matches. The most recent one was in 2017.

Cirstea Hoping for a Winning Start
Sorana Cirstea lost the last three matches she played which makes this match a rather important one. Staring with a win on grass would be a major thing especially as she’s facing a player she’s never beaten before. Cirstea hasn’t had the best track record on grass with 33 wins in 69 matches.
She can certainly play better than that but it’s just something about the surface that doesn’t really fit her style of play. Speaking of style, it was a very aggressive and attacking one which is very hard to counter when it’s working well. That hasn’t been the case lately although she is having a good season generally.
20 wins in 32 matches is pretty good for the veteran but it’s time to break up that losing streak. Most of those wins did come in the first part of the year so that’s something to keep in mind.
Bogdan has been a problem for her in the past but their most recent matches happened years ago and Cirstea is catching her opponent in a good spot – a down year.

Bogdan Aiming To Stay Undefeated
Ana Bogdan is undefeated when she faces Cirstea winning both matches against her. Yes, the matches happened years ago but it’s still a cool thing to have against a player whom many would say is the far superior one. Unlike Cirstea, Bogdan hasn’t had a very good year.
She has only 11 wins in 23 matches which is not that great. Clay is her best surface but even on clay she only won 3 of 7 matches played. It’s an interesting development as she was so good the year before with 38 wins and only 17 lost matches.
Grass has been a really solid surface for her even though she didn’t play a third of the match Cirstea has. She was a winning record 14-12 which isn’t spectacular but still respectable enough. Two fo those wins actually happened in the qualifiers for this event and they were solid wins over good players.
That’s enough to take note.
Cirstea v Bogdan Prediction and Tip
It’s a close match that could go either way realistically but I think the over is a good option because I’m not too convinced of Cirstea despite her being the better player.
Tips:
- Moderate Risk Tip: Over 19.5 games in the match: 5/6
