Cerundolo Shocks Paul
Such were the odds associated with Cerundolo and Tommy Paul for their first round match that it seemed like a foregone conclusion in favour of the latter.
As it turned out, Cerundolo managed to carve out a narrow, three-set win over Paul in their opener to register just his second career win on grass.
Cerundolo was on court for nearly two and a half hours in his 7-6 (2), 4-6, 6-4 victory that saw a whopping 12 breaks of serves in the entire encounter. Both earned six apiece which included a 3-1 lead for Paul in the deciding set.
The Argentine levelled things out at 4-4 before breaking Paul again as he served to stay in the match.
Can Cerundolo maintain this kind of a fighting form right throughout this grass swing?

Dimitrov Makes it Past Ruusuvuori
He is ranked 26th in the world but Dimitrov still had to make it through the qualifiers to enter the main draw of this competition. Wins over Aleksandar Vukic and Arthur Rinderknech in those qualifying rounds got him to the first round where he faced Emil Ruusuvuori.
Now Ruusuvuori was himself coming off a semifinal appearance at the Rosmalen Open last week, having registered a shock win over Jannik Sinner in the process.
He would have thought he had a chance against Dimitrov too but the Bulgarian did not give him too many of those. In a match that lasted a mere hour and 29 minutes, Dimitrov registered a 6-2, 6-4 win as he went on to save all the four break-points he did face.
In turn, he broke Ruusuvuori three times in the match including once in the very first game of the encounter. The Finn never recovered from that and plunged to an easy loss.
Can Dimitrov now boss the clay-court specialist Cerundolo on grass?
Cerundolo v Dimitrov Prediction and Tip
Interestingly enough Dimitrov starts a favourite but at 2/5 he is remarkably short coming up against an improving player who is ranked higher than him. Expect Cerundolo to do a lot better than what those odds suggest.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Cerundolo to win a set: 4/6
