Norrie Manages to End Thompson’s Run
Jordan Thompson was having the time of his life on grass with successive performances to remember at the Surbiton Challenger and the Rosmalen Open where he made the final.
And when he grabbed the first set of his second round match against Norrie, it looked like he had taken that momentum forward and was aiming for another upset. Except that Norrie has played on these courts quite often and is not a world number 13 for nothing.
The Brit fought back from being a set down and completed a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win in nearly two hours to win his second match on grass for the season.
Norrie’s biggest fight was to find a way to get better with his serving as he faced nine break-points in the entire match. He saved eight of them, going from winning 65% of his first serve points in the first set to 71% and 84% in the second and third respectively.
He will now face another solid challenger in Korda who has made the quarterfinal at Halle in 2021 when he also entered the fourth round at Wimbledon.

Korda Tames Tiafoe to End Streak
Frances Tiafoe was on a five-match winning streak having won the Stuttgart Open coming into tournament. A straight-set victory over Botic van de Zandschulp in the first round here meant he had come into this second round encounter against Korda as a 3/5 favourite.
It was Korda who found a way through to a win though, defeating Tiafoe 7-6 (2), 6-3 in an hour and 21 minutes.
Neither player got themselves a break of serve in the first set but Korda did have once chance late in the set. He missed that, but proceeded to take the lead in the ensuing tie-breaker.
In the second, Tiafoe drew first blood when he broke Korda in the very first game but the world number 32 responded with two of his own. There was no looking back from that point onward for Korda as he lost a mere five points on his serve and claimed a quarterfinal spot.
Can he now do the same to Norrie?
Norrie v Korda Prediction and Tip
Norrie might be a marginal favourite at 4/5 here but we reckon he has the experience and the skills to overcome Korda on grass. More so at home.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Norrie to win: 4/5
- High Risk Tip: Norrie to win in straight sets: 2/1
