Eubanks has been around for a while on the circuit and has won a couple of rounds here and there on grass. This year, however, he is yet to win a main draw match and a match against a player ranked that low in the first round gives him a good chance of doing that.
Starting his grass court campaign on the Challenger circuit in Surbiton, Eubanks won a round there before going down to Jurij Rodionov despite being an 11/20 favourite in that encounter.
This was followed by Eubanks making it through the qualifiers at both, Stuttgart and Halle, but again falling in the first round of those tournaments.
What makes things slightly better is Eubanks fought tooth and nail in both those losses. Against Richard Gasquet, he was 1/1 going into the match and pushed him to 7-6 (2), 6-4 before falling away. And then in Halle he took Hubert Hurkacz, a top-20 player to three sets.
Which is why it could well be his time now to find himself a much-deserved win here.

Michelsen Makes it Through as a Lucky Loser
Michelsen is just 18 years of age and has never played in the main draw of an ATP tournament before this. Which, in its own way, means this is an occasion to celebrate with Michelsen making it through to the first round of this competition.
That also has come on the back of some fortune for Michelsen.
The American, playing in his first ever grass court competition qualifiers, defeated Daniel Masur in the first round but fell to Lloyd Harris in three sets in the second. It was thanks to the withdrawal of a main draw player that allowed Michelsen to make it through as a lucky loser.
Earlier this month, Michelsen had participated in the Nottingham Challenger on grass, qualifying by winning a couple of rounds and then winning his opener.
Interestingly, he followed that up with a tournament on clay before returning to the grass courts of Mallorca.
