Ben Shelton v Christopher Eubanks Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and both came on the Challenger circuit last year. Shelton had won them both.

Shelton 1-1 on Grass
This is the first season in which Shelton has taken to grass court competitions, making his debut at the Queen’s Championships last week.
There, he opened his campaign on grass with a shock win over JJ Wolf – he needed two tie-breakers to get past his opponent – but his stay at the tournament was short-lived as he got sent out in the second.
It was Lorenzo Musetti who got the better of Shelton in the second round, registering a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 victory over his opponent.
A quarterfinalist at the Australian Open earlier this, Shelton has managed to win a few more matches after that but he hasn’t quite managed successive victories in any of the tournaments other than once on the Challenger circuit.
He enters this match with a first round bye.

Eubanks Wins His Third Match on Grass
Eubanks has been playing in grass court competitions before this too and on two prior occasions has won main round matches on this surface in Newport before this year.
In 2023, however, Eubanks had had to make it through the qualifiers to make the main draw at Stuttgart and Halle. On both occasions he was beaten in the first round, going down to Hubert Hurkacz and Richard Gasquet.
It was finally in Mallorca that he won his third career grass court match, edging past fellow American Alex Michelsen in three sets. Eubanks needed two hours and four minutes to get past Michelsen, 6-3, 6-7 (6), 7-5.
What will be of help for Eubanks here is his experience on grass which might not have seen him win a lot of matches but he has featured in a few of them over the years. As opposed to an opponent who is only in his first season of grass.

Shelton holds the edge but not by much. Expect him to come through but not before Eubanks has given him a working over.
