De Minaur Coming off Queen’s Final Appearance

De Minaur might not have won the Queen’s Club Championships title in the end, going down to Carlos Alcaraz around a week before the start of Wimbledon but his performance in that competition was rather spectacular.

Having gotten knocked out of the Rosmalen Open in the very second match he featured in, de Minaur went on to ruffle a few feathers on his way to the Queen’s final.

He routed Andy Murray in the first round, knocked out Diego Schwartzman in the second and overcame the in-form Adrian Mannarino in the quarterfinal that followed. But his biggest win of the tournament – and probably in a while – came against Holger Rune in the semifinal.

The Aussie sent the world number six packing in straight sets to set up the Alcaraz meeting.

De Minaur had made the fourth round here last year and will hope he can at least match up to that showing in 2023.

Coppejans Makes it Through the Qualifiers

When Coppejans took to court for his first qualifying round, he had played on grass eight times before that and lost every single time. These matches had come at every level – qualifiers and Challengers included – and Coppejans’ struggles on this surface had been there for a while.

He overcame Timofey Skatov in that encounter to record his first ever victory on grass.

While that was an achievement by itself, what followed thereafter can easily be termed as the upsets of the qualifying rounds.

Coppejans sent the 1/5 favourite Zizou Bergs packing in straight sets in the second qualifier before taking down the might and experience of Taro Daniel (who was a 3/10 favourite in that encounter) in a five-setter.

While Coppejans would know it’s not the same against a player in form and ranked 16th in the world, he will also come in with some confidence of competing.

de Minaur v Coppejans Prediction and Tip

De Minaur is 1/25 to win this and we can easily back him to do that in straight sets. The Aussie could face some resistance in one of the sets.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: De Minaur to win: 4/7
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 0.5 tie-breakers in the match: 6/5
