Former Semifinalist Hurkacz Hoping to Improve Form
Having touched a career-high of ninth in the world, Hurkacz has fallen to 18th as a result of the struggles he has found himself in this season.
Hurkacz did win a title at Marseille earlier in the year and made the fourth round at the Australian Open but there haven’t been too many other deep runs. Sure, he has a 22-14 win-loss record which cannot be frowned upon but the competition among those in the top-10 is brutal and one’s got to do a lot better than that to stay there.
On grass this year, Hurkacz has featured in two tournaments – in Stuttgart and Halle.
At the former he managed to win his first two rounds but then fell to Jan-Lennard Struff in the semifinals. Hurkacz would have liked to better than that at Halle but lost to Tallon Griekspoor in the second round there.
Can he turn his season around in a competition where he has made the semifinal in 2021?

Ramos Vinolas Hasn’t Won at Wimbledon Since 2017
Ramos-Vinolas is known for his solidity on clay and those performances had once seen him rise to 17th in the world.
Right now, the Spaniard is 35 years old, and in the twilight of his career with a ranking of 72nd associated with him. That has been down to his poor form all season.
And it’s not only on surfaces outside of clay that he has struggled this season but also on dirt. So much so that Ramos-Vinolas was forced to play in clay court Challenger tournaments and again, it’s not like he did too well there.
Outside of clay, things go really south for Ramos-Vinolas this season.
He has featured in seven matches outside of clay in 2023 and won nothing, which includes a straight-set defeat on grass at Mallorca.
Can he prevent an eighth defeat here?
