Harris Back To Winning Regularly

Lloyd Harris has been playing tennis again for a while but it took him some time to find the winning formula. The South African struggled on clay but started to win once he returned to grass. He played in Den Bosch, Halle and Mallorca posting a combined 5-3 record at those events.

Plenty of matches on the grass which is exactly what he needed. He hasn’t had that much success on grass in the past holding a 10-14 record all-time on the surface but he’s certainly been a lot better later.

Most of his game comes down to his forehand and serve. If both are working that he’s really hard to beat, especially on grass but there are ways to squeeze out some edges. He can be quite streaky which means that he’s not going to sustain an incredible level for 4-5 sets.

Luckily for Harris he will play a player that struggles with the same thing.

Barrere Finding Form

Gregoire Barrere has been an interesting player for a while as the French player can play on a top 20 level. The problem is that he hits that level very rarely though this year he’s been more consistent than usual. 25 wins in 42 matches is pretty good as is his 4-2 record on grass at the time of writing this.

He’s still in the draw in Eastbourne fighting Tommy Paul for a spot in the final. Peaking at this time is very beneficial for Barrere who can certainly beat his opponent if he plays his best tennis.

He plays similarly to Harris as he too has a good serve and great forehand. If both work then he’s good but he can also be dangerous from the backhand. I’d say Barrere has a bit of a higher ceiling in terms of hitting a peak while Harris is more stable generally.

If he can find his good tennis again expect him to prove very difficult to handle.

Harris v Barrere Prediction and Tip

They both prefer to play short rallies so expect plenty of winners in this one. It’s likely to go multiple sets and I would not be shocked to see five sets. When it comes to winning, it’s tough. Either can win and it’s going to come down to who has the better day in terms of shot-making.

Tips:

  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 3.5 sets in the match: 1/2
