Siniakova in Brilliant Form
Doubles number one Katerina Siniakova is coming off a superb warm-up ahead of the London Major.
In the Grass Court Championships Berlin, she was the runner-up in doubles alongside Marketa Vondrousova. That was followed by her singles title run in Bad Homburg, thus bagging her fourth WTA career trophy.
After reaching the final in 2021 but losing to Angelique Kerber, Siniakova managed to win this time by beating Lucia Bronzetti in the title match. Her other exploits in the win included similar wins over Liudmila Samsonova and Elisabetta Cocciaretto.
That has improved her singles record for the year to 13-9, while in doubles, she is 17-3 (titles from Indian Wells and the Aus Open).
Katerina’s other notable singles result came in Merida in the form of a semifinal showing.

Zheng 0-2 on Grass
Qinwen Zheng, China’s number one ranked player on the WTA Tour, is starting her Wimbledon campaign on the back of a poor grass swing.
She lost in the opening matches in Berlin and Eastbourne in straight sets – but in her defence, she did draw some hard-hitting players like Jessica Pegula and Veronika Kudermetova.
Now ranked World No. 24, Qinwen is 17-12 for the year. She has had her moments, notably in Abu Dhabi (semifinal) and Rome (quarterfinal).
Last year, Zheng made her debut at Wimbledon and made it to round three, beating Sloane Stephens in the opener.
Despite her form, the Chinese are a formidable opponent who is a force to be reckoned with.
Zheng v Siniakova Prediction and Tip
Siniakova has form, rhythm, and pedigree (a two-time Wimbledon Doubles winner). Although she is not the strongest singles player, she is optimistic about her chances against Zheng.
Speaking of Zheng, her aggressive style may just be enough to put Siniakova outside her element. Expect an entertaining match.
Tips:
- Low-Risk Tip: Samsonova to win: 3/7
- Moderate Risk Tip: Three sets in the match: 3/1
