Wolf Shows Sparkle in Eastbourne
In what has been his first ever grass court season, Wolf looked to be struggling to get going in Queen’s Club Championships where he was beaten by Mackenzie McDonald in the qualifiers.
Still making it to the main draw as a lucky loser, Wolf did not last too long as he was sent packing by fellow American Ben Shelton in two sets. He did push Shelton to tie-breakers in both of them.
Wolf looked to have turned things around last week in Eastbourne though.
Starting out against Tomas Etcheverry, Wolf managed to ease past his clay court specialist opponent in straight sets before needing three sets to scrape past Luca Van Assche in the second. And while Tommy Paul did end Wolf’s stay in the last eight stage, it wasn’t before he had taken him a third set tie-breaker.
Can he use that experience to emulate his performance at the Australian Open earlier this season where he had made the fourth round?

Couacaud Qualifies for His Second Wimbledon
Couacaud has never been ranked better than 153rd in the world and over years of having been on the circuit he has made the second round at a Grand Slam on just two occasions. One of those came at the Australian Open earlier this year.
On grass, however, Couacaud has had a woeful run.
He has played in the main draw of any such event just once before – it came at the 2022 Wimbledon – and was beaten by John Isner in the opener. Other than that, three previous attempts to make the first round at Wimbledon had all come a cropper while five appearances on the Challenger circuit on grass resulted in no wins for the Frenchman.
And he now faces a player ranked 46th and in reasonably good touch for the year. Things aren’t going to get any easier.
Wolf v Couacaud Prediction and Tip
Wolf’s return to solidity on grass combined with Couacaud’s struggles on the same surface – and overall in general too – can only mean one thing. An easy win for the American.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Wolf to win: 2/9
- Moderate Risk Tip: Under 37.5 games in the match: 5/6
