Dart Keen to Impress Again
Harriet Dart is among five British women who enter the 2023 Wimbledon Championships with a wild card. She’ll be making her fifth straight main draw appearance on Monday.
It was a no-brainer that Dart was going to get one after her performance there last summer when she took top-ranked American Jessica Pegula the full distance in the second round.
Outside team competitions, grass is where Dart plays her best tennis, and at Tour level, she has made no fewer than four quarterfinals, including on a couple of occasions last month in Nottingham and Birmingham. In both tournaments, she defeated top-30 player Anhelina Kalinina.
The 26-year-old was in the reckoning as a potential British No. 1, but lost ground in that regard, losing a decisive quarterfinal match to Katie Boulter in Nottingham who has since claimed Emma Raducanu’s place in top spot of British women’s tennis.
Nonetheless, Dart knows she can’t dwell on that near miss. And ahead of Wimbledon, she sits a lowly 142, with at least three of her compatriots ranked ahead of her.

Parry Reclaims Top 100 Spot
After a slow start to the season on hard courts, Diane Parry peaked on clay, playing at her desired level, and won her second WTA 125K-level title on home soil in Paris, and re-entered the top 100.
That success happened just a week before the French Open, where Parry once again set foot in the main draw and shocked top-30 player Anhelina Kalinina in the first round, putting another victory at Roland Garros to her seismic win in 2022 when she beat reigning champion Barbora Krejcikova.
Sadly for Parry, she couldn’t back up that result and went out in the second round to Russian teenage phenomenon Mirra Andreeva.
Parry played a couple of tournaments on clay after Roland Garros, with the headline result being a semifinal run in Makaraska where she lost to eventual champion Mayar Sherif.
Although she is naturally suited to clay, modeling her devilish one-handed slice to that of her idol Amelie Mauresmo, Parry made a striking impression on her debut on grass last summer.
She scored wins over Tatjana Maria (2022 Wimbledon semifinalist) and Kaia Kanepi and currently has a 5-3 overall record on the lawn.
Dart v Parry Prediction and Tip
Dart starts as the favorite, but will the magnitude of the moment overwhelm her? At 26, and with plenty of grass-court experience, she’ll have enough to see this out. But expect a potential barnburner that could go the distance.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Dart to win: 4/11
- Moderate Risk Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/4
