Trevisan Outside Her Comfort Zone

2023 so far has been a disappointing season for Italy’s Martina Trevisan. Her record stands at 11 wins to 15 losses, with her last victory coming in Rabat in May. That tournament also saw her retire in the quarterfinal.

Since then, the 29-year-old has lost the opening matches in the French Open and WTA Bad Homburg – respectively, to Elina Svitolina & Alize Cornet.

Owing to a serious lack of form and results, Trevisan has dropped to the 64th spot in the singles ranking.

Only two WTA tournaments stand out for her in 2023 – the Miami Open, where she made it to the final eight and the Madrid Open, where she reached the round of 16.

Another interesting bit worth noting about Martina is her form on grass. In her career, she has won just one match on the surface – back in 2018. At Wimbledon, she has never won a main draw match.

Tormo Taking it Slow

Sara Sorribes Tormo is set to compete in her first grass match of the season.

Her last stint was in Valencia 125 where she fell in round two to Sara Errani. Most of 2023 has been such for the 26-year-old Spaniard.

Tormo took a six-month break from the tour in October last year, returning to action only in April. In the three months since, she has brought her win-loss tally to 13-7. This includes a quarterfinal feat in Bogota, a semis in ITF Oeiras, and runner-up in ITF Madrid.

Sara also did well to reach round four in the French Open, which helped her enter the top 100 again and now, she finds herself at the 84th spot.

As for her form at SW19, Tormo has featured in round two thrice.

Tormo v Trevisan Prediction and Tip

Tormo should fancy her chances in this one. She has far more wins on grass, which, when combined with Trevisan’s serious dearth of exposure to the surface, makes her a favourite.

Tips:

  • Low-Risk Tip: Tormo to win: 1/3
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/4
