Madison Keys, currently ranked World No. 18, is coming off a brilliant title run in Eastbourne.
The American bagged her second Eastbourne International title last week, beating Daria Kasatkina in the final in straight sets. Her other wins in the tournament came against the likes of Tereza Martincova, Xiyu Wang, Petra Martic, and Coco Gauff.
That performance puts her year-to-date tally at 21-8.
Keys has approached the 2023 tour on a slow-and-steady note. All things considered, she has done rather well.
She began the year with a title run in the inaugural United Cup, later followed by quarterfinal stints in WTA Dubai and Charleston. Madison then featured in Rome and Paris but had to settle for early losses.
In Wimbledon, Keys has an interesting history. She was a quarterfinalist here in 2015, while in 2021, she made it as far as round four.

Wimbledon seems to be the only tournament where Sonay Kartal doesn’t have to deal with qualifying matches.
The home favourite got a ticket to the main draw – just like last season. But whether she can win her opening match is a whole other story. In the 2022 edition, she was beaten in the opener, while this time, it appears the universe has a similar fate in store for her.
Kartal has spent the majority of her current season on the ITF circuit, reaching the semifinal a good many times and going the distance just once – in ITF Santa Margherita Di Pula.
In the build-up to the Slam, the current World No. 266 was a semifinalist in ITF Ilkley – followed by a three-set loss to Bianca Andreescu in Bad Homburg.
While her record stands at 25-12 for the year, it does lack top-tier wins.
