Angelique Kerber v Bianca Andreescu Head to Head
The two ladies met as recently as the final of the Indian Wells Open last week. The young Canadian won that match 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to sail to the biggest victory of her career.
An Interesting Fortnight for the Two Ladies
Kerber and Andreescu are two players who are separated by a massive gap in experience but quite remarkably, the two of them have had quite an interesting last couple of weeks.
They both competed in the Indian Wells Open, starting in the opposite half and moved on to reach the final. The 18-year-old Canadian was the end winner of that encounter that led her to the biggest title of her career. In addition to Kerber, Andreescu went past the likes of Dominika Cibulkova, Garbine Muguruza, and Elina Svitolina.
However, the German too made her own strides in the competition. By reaching the final there, she secured 650 ranking points and once again, moved into the top 5 as the World No. 4. With that, reigning Wimbledon champion also reached the semifinal in Dubai and fourth round in the Australian Open this year.
Andreescu, on her part, started the year with a runner-up stint in WTA Auckland. Later, she also won the 125K Series event in Newport Beach.
Will Andreescu Deliver Again?
While the rise of young stars is certainly not a new occurrence, their ability to maintain their form and concentration is certainly quite rare. Many players like Eugenie Bouchard and Belinda Bencic have already gone through this in their early years and it will be up to Andreescu to avoid that.
So far, she has been absolutely solid in Miami, starting with wins over Irina-Camelia Begu and Sofia Kenin. Even her overall form this year has been along the same lines.

This will be an evenly matched fixture that can very well go either way. Kerber has got an edge here and that’s her massive experience. With a chance to avenge her defeat here, we can expect her to come out all guns blazing but given Andreescu’s recent spell, she must expect stiff competition again.
