Albert Ramos-Vinolas is an experienced pro but he had two things going against him. For starters most of his brilliance at the highest level has come on clay. And secondly, it has been a very forgettable year for the Spaniard with his form showing signs of deterioration.
And Hurkacz took full advantage of that in the first round as the Polish number one came through in straight sets in their opening round encounter.
Hurkacz was on court for an hour and 36 minutes as he demolished Ramos-Vinolas 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 to enter the second round. This follows his first round exit at this tournament last year.
There were four break-points that went against him in the match but Hurkacz saved them all while at the same time he broke his opponent four times. 30 winners and a mere 13 unforced errors punctuated his game, making it even easier for him.
He shouldn’t have too many difficulties in round two either.

Choinski Overcomes Lajovic in Hard-Fought Encounter
Choinski had never made the main draw at Wimbledon before and his career-best ranking – also his current ranking – is a lowly 164th.
Which is why it was no surprise he went into his opener against Dusan Lajovic at 8/5 odds to upset him and that’s exactly how the match transpired too.
For starters, Lajovic grabbed the first set in 39 minutes after the duo traded four breaks of serves in the first six games. Something similar repeated in the second set too, but this time around Lajovic failed to earn that decisive break and the set went into a tie-breaker.
It was from this point onward that the match turned around completely. Choinski raced away to four set-points in the tie-breaker, and after he had converted the third, he went on to break Lajovic four times over the next two sets to win the encounter.
Hurkacz, however, will be a different kettle of fish for the Brit.

Hurkacz should have no difficulties here but the unknown nature of Choinski could lengthen the match a little bit.
