Sinner Has No Issues against Cerundolo
Juan Manuel Cerundolo started out a 14/1 underdog in his opener and Sinner saw to it that he played as well as those odds reckoned he would.
In a match that lasted a mere hour and a half, Sinner shrugged off his recent under-par performances to win 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 and make the second round.
The 2022 Wimbledon quarterfinalist faced a mere two break-points in the encounter and saved them both while breaking his opponent six times. What was so brilliant about Sinner’s game was his serving which saw him win 85% of all his points on serve.
This win follows his retirement from the quarterfinal of the Halle Open two weeks ago where he had suffered a leg injury. A result like this would have been a good way for him to test his leg without pushing it too much as he prepares for the sterner tests of the later rounds.

Schwartzman Shocks Kecmanovic
Schwartzman is in such a wretched stretch of form that it was no surprise he had started out as a 17/10 underdog in his opener against Miomir Kecmanovic. His 8-18 win-loss record for the season has also meant the once-eighth-ranked player has fallen to 98th in the world at the moment.
What happened in his opener though was a bigger surprise.
The Argentine did not give Kecmanovic an iota of a chance and in two hours and six minutes, completed a 6-0, 6-3, 6-4 victory to march into the second round.
He was broken twice in the encounter, but by then it was a case of too little too late as Schwartzman had taken a 6-0, 6-3, 4-0 lead in the encounter. The mini fightback saw Kecmanovic level things out at 4-4 before Schwartzman broke again to clinch the win.
Against Sinner, things could get a lot tougher for Schwartzman.
