Felix Auger-Aliassime v Hubert Hurkacz Head to Head

The two have never met before. This will be the first meeting between two surprise names in the third round draw with the beauty of the result being one of the players to watch from the future looking to make it as far as the round of 16.

Auger-Aliassime, Another Canadian Teenager Making a Name

Auger-Aliassime is following in the footsteps of female compatriot Bianca Andreescu by making a big name for themselves in 2019. The youngest man in the top 100, he became the youngest ATP 500 finalist in Rio, before losing to Laslo Dere.

Then at Indian Wells, he achieved his first ever win over a top-ten player, beating Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round in straight sets.

He has overcome two tough matches in Miami to get this far – beating Casper Ruud of Norway and then Marton Fucsovics of Hungary – but will have no fear when he meets Hurkacz.

Interestingly, three of his four matches – including two he played at the qualifiers in Miami, have gone to three sets, so there could be some amount of exhaustion factor that might come into his play if this also goes the distance.

Another Strong Run by Hurkacz

Hurkacz’s progress has been one of the stories of the year so far, after beating Kei Nishikori twice in successive tournaments, and then reaching the quarter-final in Indian Wells. That win over Nishikori was followed by another against Denis Shapavalov in the fourth round of that Masters tournament.

He has followed that form up in Miami, beating Matteo Berrettini of Poland in the first round, and then dumping Dominic Thiem, winner in Indian Wells, out of the tournament here in straight sets – one of the biggest shocks of the competition so far.

He will go into Sunday’s match in the unusual position of being favourite, so it will be interesting to see how he copes with the pressure in a match that he is expected to win.

Auger-Aliassime v Hurkacz Predictions & Tips

For once Hurkacz is favourite at 3/4 on, whilst his teenage opponent is priced at 6/5. Both have done well to get this far, and it may be a question of who copes better with the occasion on the day.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/5 (betway)
