Marie Bouzkova v Anett Kontaveit Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two players and it was Kontaveit who came away a winner, defeating Bouzkova at the 2020 Cincinnati Open.

A quarterfinalist in this tournament in 2022, Bouzkova looked to have lost her bearings coming into this year’s Wimbledon. She was on a three-match losing streak which included two losses on grass – losing to Bernarda Pera and Beatriz Haddad Maia in Birmingham and Eastbourne respectively.
Up against Simona Waltert, however, Bouzkova did not face a lot of heat.
In a first round match lasting an hour and 18 minutes, Bouzkova registered a 6-1, 6-4 win over Waltert to seal her place in the round of 64.
Sure, she lost her serve once, but by then she had already taken a 5-2 lead in the second set. Bouzkova squandered three match-points in the eighth game, in the process losing her serve but the next time she got an opportunity in the 10th game, she eased through.

Kontaveit has opted to end her career because of her chronic fitness issues and this might be the last tournament she is participating in. This surely is the last time Kontaveit will be seen at Wimbledon as a player and she managed to extend her stay in the tournament by another day with her opening round win.
Having entered the tournament on the back of an underwhelming season of tennis in which Kontaveit hasn’t won successive matches in any of the WTA tournaments, she overcame Lucrezia Stefanini in their opener with ease.
In a match lasting an hour and 31 minutes, Kontaveit was a 6-4, 6-4 winner over Stefanini despite losing her serve on two occasions.
Both times, however, it came after Kontaveit had already established a lead with a break and on both occasions, Kontaveit retaliated with a second break of serve. She finished things soon after that to move into round two.

Not much to choose between these two players on paper but we will have to go with Bouzkova given her opponent’s obvious fitness concerns and lack of wins all season.
