Anastasia Potapova v Mirra Andreeva Head to Head

Potapova in Good Form

22nd seed Anastasia Potapova started well in London. With confident, straight-set wins, she will compete in the round of three of Wimbledon for the first time in her career.

After beating Celine Naef, she beat Kaja Juvan 6-3, 7-5 in a match where she struck 35 winners and enjoyed a good service game.

Ahead of the Slam, Potapova was a semifinalist in Birmingham, where she fell to Jelena Ostapenko in three sets.

Overall, it has been a pretty good year for the current #23 and reigning Linz Open champion. She has 27 wins under her belt already while losing just 13. By all means, she is on course to deliver a career-best season (previous best: 35-24, ’22).

The year has also seen Anastasia beat a handful of big names like Coco Gauff and Caroline Garcia.

Andreeva on a Roll

Following her week at Wimbledon, teenage sensation Mirra Andreeva has now 30 wins in the season against just an astonishing 4 losses.

Starting as a qualifier in London, she defeated Rosa Vicens Mas, Chloe Paquet, and Tamara Korpatsch in the prelims. In the opening match, the 16-year-old beat Xiyu Wang in three sets – followed by a 6-3, 4-0 victory over Barbora Krejcikova.

Andreeva started that match well and remained in firm control throughout. That said, Krejcikova’s fitness concerns (22 unforced errors) also made things a bit easier for the youngster.

Having reached the same stage in the Paris Slam last month (and round four in Madrid), the 102nd-ranked Mirra has announced herself strongly on the tour.

Andreeva v Potapova Prediction and Tip

Potapova is the odds-on favourite on account of her experience. But given Andreeva’s brilliant run, she should brace for a tough match. Expect many games.

Tips:

  • Low-Risk Tip: Potapova to win: 8/13
