Wimbledon 2023 Predictions & Tips for Thursday, July 13

Aryna Sabalenka v Ons Jabeur

Second seed Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus will meet sixth seed Ons Jabeur of Tunisia in this delicious women’s singles semifinal as far as the potential quality of tennis we could see is concerned.

This will be the fifth meeting between these two players with Sabalenka leading Jabeur 3-1 at the moment. This includes a win for the Belarusian over Jabeur at the 2021 Wimbledon where she had made the semifinal.

To go with that, Sabalenka has been far more consistent than Jabeur this season; she has also dominated the rivalry, and won their last three meetings. So the second seed will be a slight favourite going into the contest.

Marketa Vondrousova v Elina Svitolina

World no. 42 Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic will meet world no. 76 Elina Svitolina of Ukraine in another evenly-matched Wimbledon 2023 semifinal.

What is creditable to note is Svitolina is coming off her maternity leave and hadn’t played in a lot of tournaments before the start of this competition. On the other hand, Vondrousova has herself had a long road back to success since making the 2019 French Open semifinal as she recovered from her fitness issues.

Now, Svitolina maybe ranked lower than Vondrousova and may have been handed over a wild card for the tournament, but she is enjoying a terrific run at the moment.

In her last 15 matches, Svitolina has won 13 and lost 2. She also has a better record on grass than the Czech. Expect Svitolina to reach her maiden major final by edging past Vondrousova.
