Alexander Zverev v Alex Molcan Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the French Open earlier this year and Zverev had won that in straight sets.

Zverev Returns to Clay after 5-2 on Grass
Zverev would have loved to go deeper than the third round exit he faced at Wimbledon but overall, he would be satisfied with his 5-2 win-loss record on grass this season.
That came on the back of what looked like a turnaround for Zverev on clay on which he had made the semifinal at the French Open.
Having returned to competitive tennis earlier this year, Zverev was slow off the blocks but once he got to clay things began to change for him. Third round appearances at the Monte-Carlo Masters and then in Madrid and Rome lay a foundation for his run at Roland Garros.
At the season’s second Grand Slam, Zverev overcame a plethora of solid players like Frances Tiafoe, Grigor Dimitrov and Tomas Etcheverry to enter the last four.
Zverev will look to start things off with a solid showing here.

Molcan Hoping to Make His Clay Form Count
Molcan is essentially a clay-courter who has a few wins on the other surfaces. His overall record reads a brilliant 28-14 on clay and a measly 17-24 on all the other surfaces combined together.
More recently, he made the semifinal of the Banja-Luka Open, falling a win short of his fourth ATP final. Molcan’s previous title-deciding matches have come at the Belgrade Open, Marakkesh Open and Lyon Open, all of which came on clay too.
He lost to Novak Djokovic, David Goffin and Cameron Norrie in those competitions.
On the Challenger circuit he has seven clay-court finals of which he has won four titles.
Unfortunately for him, Molcan doesn’t have a lot of form coming into this encounter having lost in first round at Wimbledon and then again in his opener at the Braunschweig Challenger competition on clay.
Expecting him to put up a challenge for Zverev might not be an easy task.
